I am new using the neo4j and I have created an account under Aura. I am able to connect to the database via the neo4j desktop and activate and deactivate it.
I have two questions:
Is there a way to stop and start the database in Aura? Currently, it's always on status running and I cannot find any option to shut it down.
Regarding pricing: Is my account being charged for the time that the database is in status "running" in Aura menu? Or does my account stop being charged once I "deactivate" the connection via the neo4j desktop?
Hello Theodosis, and welcome to the Neo4j Community! We're glad to have you here.
The ability to pause/stop and then resume a database is on our product roadmap for the platform in coming releases, right now the database can be running, or deleted/destroyed only.
The billing and metering of usage lies within the Aura platform, not within Neo4j Desktop. Deactivating the connection from within desktop does not delete the database within Aura. The Aura database will remain running until you delete/destroy it within Aura itself.
Could you please clarify if there is an ETA or a specific timeframe for the feature to be released? We have separate environments for testing and development and production and we are diligent with scheduling shutdowns and managing wasteful cloud hours. It would make a big difference to have this feature.
Note: We are using Google Cloud
Thank you.
