Neo4j hangs right out of the box - what am I missing?

I just installed neo4j desktop (using "Neo4j Desktop Setup 1.5.8.exe" freshly downloaded from the neo4j download page). installation went smooth but when I now start the application I get an initial dialog "please choose where you want you want to store application data".
The path displayed would be fine but when I cklick "confirm" nothing happens.
Also if I click the "choose" button and navigate to some directory and finally return to that dialog the button is a no-op... Nothing happens when I click on it. :frowning:

Was that it? What am I missing here?

This is on a Windows 10 box. All updates installed...

I also tried with an older version (1.4.15) - same effect/bug. Didn't come any further then the very first dialog...

No reply - even support didn't react.
Thus: uninstalled as useless. :-(

Do you have log files? It might be a missing Windows dependency or permission issue, but logs would help to know for sure!
