What does "acting for my business/organization" mean?

I want to take the Graph Data Modeling Fundamentals course from Graph Academy. But when I try to register for the course, I'm given a form that requires my organization and job title, and says, "By submitting this form, you confirm you are acting for your business/organisation."

This makes me nervous, because every year, my company makes me take mandatory training in which employees are threatened with dire consequences if we claim to be representing or acting on behalf of the organization and we're not explicity authorized to do so. Furthermore, it's just not true: my interest is solely for an unpaid project outside of work. My company does not use or have any intention of using graph databases.

Is it really forbidden to learn about graph database modeling fundamentals for personal projects or career development? What am I agreeing to if I submit this form?

Clarification much appreciated.

Hi,

I am going to ask our marketing teams for the precise meaning behind "By submitting this form, you confirm you are acting for your business/organisation.".

However.

Is it really forbidden to learn about graph database modeling fundamentals for personal projects or career development?

Absolutely not, feel free to ignore the question relating to your company. You can put "None", or "personal project", or anything else you feel is appropriate.

Hopefully you get time to complete the course.

Martin

Perfect, thank you!
