Using Periodic Commit

Hi there,
I was following the guide on importing from CSV. How-To: Import CSV Data with Neo4j Desktop - Developer Guides
I am using V1.2.7 of desktop.
When I followed the instructions to Using Periodic Commit 500 I got in error message
"Executing queries that use periodic commit in an open transaction is not possible." and a link to the :auto command.

I could not work out the meaning of the :auto, so for the purpose of the learning exercise I removed this command.

Please can Neo4J update the training guide to avoid this error, and can someone please explain how I should use Periodic Commit so that it does not throw an error?
