My working aura free tier instance is allnof sudden suspended

Hello all.

I am using neo4j aura free ties for my dev env. it used to get paused every day and I used to resume. today it says suspended and can't be paused. i was in the middle of work and it went suspended and there is no reason conveyed.

Id : f0113729

Error message : It has been suspended by support admin. Please talk to support team.

Because it is a free tier, I can't connect to support team.

Moreover it says, suspended instances can't be recovered.

Welcome to the community. I have asked for help on this one and someone should get back to you shortly.

In the meantime, let’s address the elefant in the room: Aura Free does not appear to be an optimal match for your development needs (other than meeting budget constraints  ).

Do you need a hosted dev environment (like an integrated dev environment for you and your team mates)? Or would a local dev env do? Can you paint the picture so we can consider the options?

Once again, welcome and happy graphing!

We have paid account for production. This one we are using for dev. The data we have accumulated is of 4 years and so you might feel it's more. But it's less.

I actually don't understand why admin has suspended without any notice/info ? Dashboard showing no reasoning. I am just left in blackbox. My productive hours are getting wasted without my dev env available.

Basically this act of neo admin really screwed my quote a few hours. If neo is stopping free tiers, let it be open and give us time to upgrade. What's the point of simply suspending the account?

This leave a bad impression and am seriously thinking if my prod env is even safe …!

Welcome to the community, and thank you for sharing your concerns.

The Free V4 instance you were using for development was suspended as part of the deprecation process for Neo4j Version 4 Aura databases. We sent multiple email notifications to all affected users informing them that support for Neo4j Version 4 databases ended on March 31, 2025. In addition, we sent a reminder in October stating that any Version 4 Free databases not upgraded by November 30, 2025, would be suspended. These emails may have been missed or may have ended up in your spam folder.

I understand that this suspension has impacted your development work, and I’m sorry for the inconvenience it has caused. I can reinstate the instance for you; however, please note that it will only remain available for 48 hours, after which it will be suspended again. I strongly recommend taking a data dump during this window to ensure your data is preserved.

Please let me know when you would like the instance reinstated, and I will proceed accordingly.

Will we be able to migrate to v4 post the instance is available?

What's the process…? Is it just triggering from dashboard?

Please guide us so we do that in 48 hours window.

Please reinstate now and let me know how do I trigger migration to v4 without data loss…

Hi @lovepreet.kaur

Waiting for the reinstate.

We would like to trigger v4 migration too immediately…

@docx.aws

As to migrating to v4 please see

and the sub sections there in

Thank @dana_canzano

We are trying to follow the guide.

May I request you to keep the instance up for 5 days instead of just 2 days ?

As this is something unplanned for us and we did not anticipate this, we might take that much time managing other critical roadmap items which are non-negotiable at the moment.

I hope this is something doable from your end that would be a great help to us.

I have checked internally regarding the request to keep the free instance running for 5 days: unfortunately, we’re not able to extend the uptime beyond the standard 2-day window for free instances. This limit is enforced across all free v4 databases and and multiple reminders were sent in advance to help ensure customers had enough time to complete their migration. We advise you to take a dump of your data during this window to avoid any data loss.

Additionally, please note that we don’t advise running mission-critical workloads on free-tier databases.

Thank you for your understanding.
